Penn State fraternity suspended after reported sexual assault

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Penn State has suspended the Phi Sigma Delta Sigma chapter of Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity as State College police investigate a reported sexual assault.

During the interim suspension, the fraternity loses all privileges including membership recruitment, new member activities, participation in universitywide functions and hosting social events, according to the school.

According to an online submission, the assault happened Jan. 15 at the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity house on E. Prospect Avenue.

The report was made by a third party who was told by the unknown victim that four unidentified fraternity brothers assaulted them.

In an online statement, Penn State police said there may be a continued risk.

“It can be assumed that conditions continue to exist that may pose a threat to members and guests of the University community. It is the duty of the administration to warn of possible “dangerous conditions” on or near the campus, and at affiliate organizations off campus; an “affirmative duty” exists to warn persons associated with the University of possible peril at the hands of some third party or parties."
