ALIQUIPPA, Pa. — Shell and the Pittsburgh Steelers teamed up to help out a local community.

The two gave out groceries, hygiene products and socks in Aliquippa on Saturday as part of their third annual “Convoy of Hope.”

People were able to get their products in a drive-thru style fashion.

The Steelers and Shell Polymers came prepared with enough supplies to help around 1,000 people. They began handing them out at 10 a.m. and stopped once they ran out. Cars began lining up on Franklin Avenue before the event was even scheduled to start.

“It’s a great feeling. We say that we’re a part of the community and we truly are,” said Curtis Thomas from Shell. “People know a lot of things about Shell but they do not know the heart of Shell, so this is a great thing.”

Pittsburgh Steeler Arthur Moats came out to assist in the giveaway.

Organizers said they were able to help 1,500 families at the end of the event.
