Sidney Crosby has received one of Canada’s highest honors.
The Pittsburgh Penguins captain, who was born in Nova Scotia, Canada, was appointed as an officer of the Order of Canada “For being one of the greatest hockey players of all time and for supporting community service initiatives for youth.”
The Order of Canada is one of the country’s highest honours. Since 1967, it has recognized people who have made extraordinary and sustained contributions to the nation, according to the office of Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, who bestows the honor.
Also among those receiving the honor this year is actor Eugene Levy.
