Southwest expands Pittsburgh-Houston service, other routes

Southwest Airlines, which last month was the biggest airline at Pittsburgh International Airport, will next July make its route to Houston six days a week and add to its already-daily service to Atlanta and Denver.

It’s a big win for Pittsburgh International Airport, which had only seen the one-day-a-week service to Houston return on Nov. 12.

Southwest (NYSE: LUV) will also make flights to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, daily from where it has only been the weekends. Pittsburgh-Atlanta flights will go from daily to two times a day, and Pittsburgh-Denver flights will go from daily to three times a day.

The changes all take effect July 11.
