PITTSBURGH — From Sept. 14-18, the tech and AI-focused energy in Pittsburgh was everywhere.
Formally organized by Carnegie Mellon University’s Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship, the first-ever StartUP Pgh Week included a jam-packed slate of events across the city, hosted by some of the region’s biggest advocates and conveners in the tech space.

On Tuesday, local early stage investor Innovation Works held its annual Venture Expo in Oakland — serving as a keynote was John Thornton, co-founder of Astrobotic Technology Inc.
Banking giant BNY hosted an event on Tuesday to announced that it is opening a namesake AI lab at Carnegie Mellon University and providing $1.5 million in research investments for CMU faculty.
