Steelers place wide receiver on injured reserve

The Pittsburgh Steelers will place wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. on the team’s injured reserve list, according to a report by Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

Pittman, who suffered an aggravation of his left foot injury during the team’s first practice of Week 5 on Wednesday, was seen with his left foot in a walking book and was using a mobility scooter at practice on Thursday.

Head coach Mike McCarthy confirmed on Thursday morning that Pittman is expected to miss multiple weeks. By rule, Pittman must now miss at least four games, meaning the earliest he can return is after the team’s bye, on Nov. 15 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The injury is an aggravation of the same issue that hampered the veteran receiver earlier this season, that kept him out against the New England Patriots in Week 2. That came after a three-reception, 58-yard performance in the Steelers’ regular season opener against the Atlanta Falcons.
