PITTSBURGH — 25-year-old Minkah Fitzpatrick, a two-time All-Pro for the Steelers, has signed a four-year contract extension that will make him the highest-paid safety in the NFL.
Fitzpatrick, who had one year remaining on his previous contract, will remain a Steeler for at least the next five seasons. His new deal includes $36 million in guaranteed money.
In a statement released by the team, Steelers General Manager Omar Khan said, “When we traded for him we knew he was going to be an integral part of our defense and we look forward to that continuing as we prepare for the upcoming season.”
Fitzpatrick, a first-round pick of the Dolphins in 2018, was traded to the Steelers two games into the 2019 season, and has started 46 games for the Steelers.
Fitzpatrick led the Steelers with a career-high 124 tackles in 2021 as well as 84 solo tackles. He was one of only two players in the NFL last season with at least four interceptions, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
