Stretch of southbound I-79 to close in Greene County while crews remove overturned vehicle

Part of Interstate 79 will close Thursday while crews remove an overturned vehicle from an earlier crash.

The southbound lanes will be closed from Exit 19 (Ruff Creek/Jefferson) in Washington Township to Exit 14 (Masontown/Waynesburg) in Franklin Township, Greene County.

The closure is expected to last from noon until about 2 p.m., or once the vehicle is removed.

Here’s PennDOT’s recommended detour:

  • Exit I-79 at southbound Exit 19 (Ruff Creek/Jefferson)
  • Southbound Route 221
  • Eastbound Route 188
  • Southbound Route 88
  • Westbound Route 21
  • Enter southbound I-79 via Exit 14 (Masontown/Waynesburg)
