'Super' snacks: Ways to save for Sunday's game

None — PITTSBURGH --We’ve found ways to save on your Super Bowl munchies, since Sunday is one of the biggest snacking days of the year.  Target 11 Consumer Investigator Robin Taylor went through the sales fliers and she's uncovered some of the best deals.

Chicken wings are gaining in popularity.  It's estimated Americans will eat 1.25 billion wings while watching Sunday’s game.

Chips and dip still top the list of Super Bowl favorites, followed by wings, pizza and salty snacks like pretzels.  So I put my list together and did a little comparison shopping.  Here's what I found:

The one thing I did notice is that Giant Eagle has more prepared foods on sale, including things like sandwich rings from the deli.

Giant Eagle, Shop 'n Save, and Kuhn’s are all running similar deals on many party favorites.  They've all got Lay's potato chips on sale, deals on Digiorno pizza, discounts on Pepsi, and various sales on chicken wings.

I also checked out the newest player in town, Bottom Dollar Food.  The store was packed while I was there, and you have to bag your own groceries.

At Bottom Dollar I found frozen chicken wings for 88-cents a pound.  That's a really good price, and better than I found anywhere else.

Cans of Pepsi are also on sale, but you can basically get the same price at any of the grocery stores I looked at.  When you break it down they’re selling for 20-cents a can.

Tombstone pizza was $2.47, and that’s another good buy.

I also went shopping at Giant Eagle.  Lay's potato chips are buy one, get one free.  That brings the unit price to $2.14 a bag.  That's cheaper than at Bottom Dollar.

Digiorno pizza is $5 if you buy three.  At Kuhn’s you don't have to buy three to get that $5 price.

Finally, Giant Eagle is running a special on HeluvaGood dip, with 3 for $5.

Since prices at the big three grocery stores are very similar, I recommend shopping in the store that's most convenient for you, so you don't have to drive around and waste money on gas.
