A higher court on Tuesday maintained the sentence for a man convicted of child sex crimes.
The Superior Court affirmed 62-year-old James Gibson’s prison sentence of 100-200 years and upheld his determination as a “sexually violent predator,” the Fayette County District Attorney’s Office said in a social media post.
Judge Mark M. Mehalov handed Gibson the sentence in 2024, after a jury convicted him of sexual offenses against a child when she was between 7 and 12 years old.
“This conviction was made possible through the hard work and dedication of Detective Thomas Patton and the Connellsville Police Department, and the excellent prosecution by Assistant DA John Kopas,” the DA’s office said.
