Surveillance video shows Father's Day fire that damaged Robinson Twp. fire hall

ROBINSON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Surveillance video provided to Channel 11 shows flames and heavy smoke that caused an estimated $500,000 in damage to a fire hall in Robinson Township on Father's Day.

The blaze at the Robinson Township Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 sent smoke pouring into the garage after an ATV caught fire.

"Thirty years of building something gone in a half hour," said Ken Kisow, who has been chief for 27 years.

A fire truck was in the garage at the time. It was saved when a firefighter rushed into the burning building and drove it out through a closed garage door.

Other vehicles inside the garage included an air rescue truck, a squad truck and a rescue boat.

Some of the fire company's gear had to be sent for cleaning because of smoke damage. In the meantime, departments in Kennedy and Coraopolis have sent donations for Robinson Township VFC to use.

"The support, the donations -- just unbelievable," said Kisow. "We'll be fine. We'll get it done. We're on our way."
