SWAT team called to building in Hill District; 1 man taken into custody

PITTSBURGH — A man was taken into custody Monday night after a SWAT team was called to a building in Pittsburgh's Hill District, according to Channel 11's news partners at TribLIVE.

TribLIVE reported that SWAT officers and a number of off-duty officers responded to a building near the intersection of Centre Avenue and Miller Street around 8:20 p.m.

Pittsburgh police spokesperson Sonya Toler told TribLIVE that three people were involved in a gun battle outside the building, which has been evacuated. She said two of the people got away, but one ran inside the building.

Toler told TribLIVE that three hours after the SWAT team arrived, the man was found in a neighboring structure and that a gun was found under a baby on the couch of his girlfriend's upstairs apartment.

No additional information was immediately available.
