Teen accused of stabbing 21 at Franklin Regional HS waives preliminary hearing

The teenager accused of stabbing 20 classmates and a security guard at Franklin Regional High School last month waived his right to a preliminary hearing Monday.

The hearing for Alex Hribal, 16, had been scheduled for Wednesday.

Hribal took two knives to school on April 9 and went on a rampage that left 21 people injured. The attack occurred in a first-floor hallway before classes began.

Hribal is being held at the Regional Youth Services Center in Hempfield.

His formal arraignment is scheduled for July 23 on 21 counts of attempted homicide and aggravated assault and one count of possession of a weapon on school property.
