PITTSBURGH — Two juveniles were shot at while unloading groceries from a car in Marshall-Shadeland.

The incident happened just after 5:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 1200 block of Woodland Avenue.

Police were called there after a ShotSpotter notification and several 911 calls.

According to the criminal complaint, the two juveniles were unloading groceries from a car when two people approached and started shooting. One of the juveniles ran and called a family member to pick him up.

Bullets struck a building and an unoccupied car.

Several people who were in the building told police it sounded like machine gun fire, and they quickly took cover. Nobody was hit by the gunfire.

Surveillance video showed the two suspects firing on the teens.

The suspects were identified as Bryan Mathis, 16, and Daeshaun Buchanan, 20.

When police took them into custody, both men had Glocks – one of which had a modification that coverts it to fully-automatic, according to the criminal complaint.

Police said the guns were registered to other people.

Mathis and Buchanan are both facing aggravated assault, criminal mischief, carrying a firearm without a license and other charges.
