BEAVER, Pa. — The man accused of attempting to lure a 14-year-old girl into his truck on September 10 faced a judge Thursday morning, and the teenager took the stand against him.
The teenager said she had just left school for the day and a man, identified by police as Ronald Antolik Jr., was at a stop sign. She said he looked at her and called her “baby.”
She said he then asked, “Hey girl, what’s your name?” and said, “I can take you back to my cabin and make you feel good.”
“She testified very well,” said District Attorney Nate Bible. “Anytime we have a victim come forward who has the courage and has the strength to come and testify, that’s somebody that we’re going to fight very hard for.”
Police used license plate readers to track the vehicle to a home on Taffy Run Road in New Sewickley. That’s where police said Antolik Jr. resisted arrest.
Police said he had an 18-inch sword on his hip and a gun in his pocket.
Police said at first, Antolik Jr. denied being in Rochester, but then admitted he was there, and said he did not know the girl was younger than 18.
Bible said the attempted luring charge is a Megan’s Law offense.
“So ultimately if he’s convicted of that or he pleads guilty to it, he will have to register as a sex offender,” Bible said.
Prosecutors added a charge Thursday for gun possession. Antolik Jr. has previous convictions for burglary and a drug possession charge. That could bring a longer jail sentence.
Antolik Jr. may only spend three to six months in jail if convicted of attempted luring.
“For a crime like this, is nowhere near enough,” Bible said.
Antolik remains in the Beaver County Jail.
