PITTSBURGH — A tractor-trailer carrying steel coils overturned near the onramp of the Fort Pitt Bridge to Fort Duquesne Boulevard Friday morning.

The accident caused traffic to back up for miles.

PennDOT officials said drivers should use Route 51 to the West End Bridge to Route 65 as a detour.

Channel 11 News has learned that the coils fell off of the truck, and oil leaked from the vehicle.

The ramp from the Parkway West/Fort Pitt Bridge to the Fort Duquesne Bridge/Parkway North is closed.

Access from the Fort Pitt Bridge to Liberty Avenue/Downtown and the Parkway East are still open. Heavy delays on the inbound Parkway West should be expected.

There is no word on any injuries.
