PITTSBURGH — Students at Damar Hamlin’s alma mater, Central Catholic High School, supported the NFL player at a basketball game Friday night.
The student section, normally donned in blue and gold, traded in its normal colors for another shade of blue and red.

“We’re honoring him here by wearing Bills colors. There’s a lot of people wearing Pitt shirts because he went to Pitt,” Senior Nick Giunta said.
Students also held a bright gold #3 jersey. A Vikings player wore a blue number 3 jersey during warmups. Hamlin wore that number when he played at Central Catholic and wears it now for the Bills.
The tribute comes as doctors say the former Pitt star is making significant progress in his recovery. It’s a much better outlook than just a few days ago when he collapsed in Cincinnati on Monday Night.
“Knowing that he was part of the brotherhood from here at Central Catholic, like dang, one of ours went down,” senior Argenta Greene said.

“It was really one of those surreal moments that hits you really hard,” Giunta said.
A tweet from the Buffalo Bills team account today said Hamlin was well enough to Facetime teammates telling them, “Love you boys.”
Love for his Bills teammates and from the brotherhood at Central Catholic.
“He’s an absolute fighter. The power of prayer is so special, and it works,” Head basketball coach Brian Urso said.
