PITTSBURGH — Drivers can expect more detours and delays around the Liberty Tunnel this week as the inbound lanes are set to close on Wednesday.

The outbound lanes of the Liberty Tunnel are set to open during daytime hours, but the inbound side is scheduled to close on Wednesday.

For several weeks the outbound lanes have been detoured to McCardle Way. The lanes will now close from 10 p.m to 6 a.m.

The Liberty Tunnel detour has caused problems for Mt. Washington residents.

Inbound lanes will close Wednesday until at least the end of August, officials said.

“You better believe it’s rough. Parking, there’s no place to go,” Mt. Washington resident Al Caparelli said.
