PITTSBURGH — A man accused of stabbing a Pittsburgh doctor and his wife while they were asleep in their Edgewood home is now facing charges for a separate incident.
Elijah Hemingway, 32, is charged with homicide, aggravated assault, burglary and more for killing Idris Evans, a pediatric critical care physician at Children’s Hospital and an assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh, and critically injuring his wife. She is still hospitalized, now in stable condition.

The victim’s two children, ages 8 and 12, were able to make it out of the home safely.
The Allegheny County Police Department says Hemingway is now facing charges for a sexual assault in Wilkinsburg.

ACPD says during the homicide investigation, Wilkinsburg Police contacted detectives about a reported sexual assault on Sept. 23 around 10:30 a.m. The victim reportedly said she was walking on a path that connects an alley to West Street when she was sexually assaulted by an unknown man.
Detectives say they were able to collect multiple items that connect Hemingway to the reported sexual assault. They also found the victim’s cell phone that was reported stolen during the incident.
ACPD says Hemingway is now facing charges of rape, sexual assault and robbery.
