PITTSBURGH — Homeless veterans were offered assistance Saturday in the South Side.
The Veterans Leadership Program of Western Pennsylvania hosted Stand Down Pittsburgh. The annual event benefits veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless by providing one-on-one consultation to help them find housing, employment, health care and other services.
"This is our 15th year doing Stand Down and it's something that's done across the nation, and we're just excited to do it here in Pittsburgh and help our local veterans," said Michele Margittai, of the Veterans Leadership Program.
Veterans who attended the event also received free haircuts, clothing and medical attention.
