ALIQUIPPA, Pa. — A man is facing charges after an animal cruelty investigation in Aliquippa.
According to the Aliquippa Police Department, someone reported possible animal cruelty at the Valley Terrace apartments Aug. 19.
Surveillance video showed Christopher M. Hughes Jr., 22, of Aliquippa, forcefully lifting a small dog off the ground by its leash, police said in a social media post Wednesday.
Officers also investigated another incident, where Hughes allegedly hit the dog multiple times, making it yelp in pain.
Police executed a search warrant at the apartment and removed the dog, which was turned over to humane officials.
Online court records show Hughes was charged with two counts of animal cruelty.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 17.
