WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pa. — A water main break near Westmoreland County Community College’s Youngwood campus Wednesday forced the school to close early.
Officials from the school said the school closed at noon because of the break, and staff members were sent home.
"I went out to check it out and yeah, it looked like a river flowing under this road and right into or faculty and staff parking lot,” Anna Marie Palatella said. "The president decided at that point because of the extent of the break and the fact that we did not have water, that he would close the campus for today."
No damage was reported to the building.
Channel 11's Joe Holden reported that the line was fixed by 6:30 p.m. and Thursday's classes will start on time.
