CRAFTON, Pa. — Weather is to blame for destroying a building that housed a well-known printing business in Crafton.
Channel 11’s Timyka Artist reported that the roof of Calabrese Printing on Noble Avenue collapsed Wednesday around 9 a.m.
The company, which started up in 1978, has been a part of the Crafton community for 36 years.
A family friend told Channel 11 News that the collapse caused at least $100,000 worth of damage.
“It’s tough, but I’m happy he’s OK because normally he’d be here,” the owner’s daughter, Michelle Calabrese said.
The weight of heavy snow likely caused the roof to cave in. The impact from the collapse was so strong that it even blew out several windows, Artist reported.
“It’s not something the family can’t handle. We’ll get it done. We do everything together,” said Will Calabrese, the owner’s son.
Friends of the Calabrese family said the building had recently undergone renovations.
“There’s plaster and tile over it, so how would you know there’d be damage or dry rot? It’s a 100-year-old roof,” said family friend Mike Surehr.
