MOUNT PLEASANT, Pa. — A Westmoreland County man is accused of throwing an incendiary device at another person’s home Thursday.
Online court records show Jeffrey William May, 22, of Hunker, is charged with arson, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and related offenses.
According to the criminal complaint, Mount Pleasant police were called to the 400 block of Washington Street just before 1 a.m.
The 911 caller said he saw a male throw a “molotov cocktail” at the back porch of a home and then walk away. He showed officers a video allegedly showing the person in the act.
Police reportedly found a plastic water bottle filled with gasoline near the porch, as well as charring on the concrete.
The residents of the home told police it was May who threw the device, claiming May had picked a fight with them at a local fast food restaurant earlier.
The restaurant’s manager showed police surveillance video of the encounter. In it, May was wearing the same clothing as the person seen throwing the molotov cocktail, police say.
May is being held in the Westmoreland County Prison. Bail is set at $35,000.
