WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pa. — A Westmoreland County woman earlier this week pleaded guilty but mentally ill to trying to kill a child with fentanyl.
Skye Naggy, 32, of Greensburg, entered the plea on Tuesday for charges of attempted homicide, aiding suicide, aggravated assault, kidnapping, interference with child custody and endangering the welfare of a child.
The Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office says Naggy’s charges came in November 2022, when she took an 8-year-old girl and left notes behind stating “she needed the powerful opioid to protect herself and the child.” Naggy reportedly claimed she was “told by God” that she was going to die soon.
Police found Naggy and the child in a wooded area near Loyalhanna Lake.
The girl later tested positive for fentanyl and opiates.
Naggy’s lawyer previously tried to have the case thrown out, but doctors determined she was mentally competent to stand trial.
Naggy will be sentenced within the next three months.
