PITTSBURGH — Wholey’s Fish Market is preparing to celebrate its 114th anniversary.
The historic Pittsburgh Strip District business is holding an “Under the Sea Celebration” on Saturday starting at 10 a.m.
Local culinary specialist Shayla Penn is leading a free cooking class to kick things off.
Kids can meet with a live mermaid from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The store is also offering various discounts and giveaways.
“Wholey’s has been proud to serve Pittsburgh for over a century,” said Muriel Maze, marketing director at Wholey’s. “We loved seeing our customers’ faces light up last year when they saw an actual mermaid swimming on Penn Ave; we knew we just had to bring them back for a second year. We can’t wait to celebrate 114 years of Wholey’s with the community.”
Wholey’s was founded in 1912 in McKees Rocks.
