PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh police are investigating after a body was found in the woods near a housing project where three other people have been shot -- two fatally -- in less than a week.

Authorities said a body was found in the woods near Penfort Street in Northview Heights just before 10 p.m. Sunday.

The medical examiner is working to identify the body, and police are investigating the circumstances around the person’s death.

Channel 11's Brandon Hudson reported investigators are talking to witnesses who said they saw something suspicious and discovered the body in the woods.

Those witnesses told Hudson they saw a car pull up and drop the body off in the woods.

The gated community is owned by The Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh.

Three people have been shot at the complex in two separate incidents since Wednesday. It wasn't immediately clear if the body found Sunday was connected to either or both of those incidents.
