FAYETTE COUNTY, Pa. — A woman convicted of her stepson’s death has received her sentence.
Fayette County District Attorney Mike Aubele said Brianna Bloyer, 32, was sentenced to 20 to 40 years of incarceration.
Bloyer was accused of killing her 2-year-old stepson, Bentlee Myers, and was convicted of third-degree murder on Aug. 8.
Aubele said the sentence, given by Judge Joseph George Jr., was the maximum punishment for this crime.
“This was a very difficult and emotional case for everyone involved; thank you again to all of our law enforcement partners, emergency medical services, the staff at WVU Children’s Hospital, and the many witnesses and family members who helped secure justice for Bentlee,” Aubele said.
Myers died from severe physical trauma after he was in Bloyer’s care at a house in Lake Lynn, Springhill Township, on Aug. 16, 2024.
Police said there were multiple Google searches on Bloyer’s phone. They read:
- “When upset why do I pass out so much”
- “How to get someone to come to when you pass out”
- “Why am I so much more angry while pregnant”
- “Can being more angry in pregnancy be a boy or girl”
- “Carpet imprint in face how long does it take to go away”
- “Homemade bruise cream”
Police said records show she did not attempt to call emergency services at any point.
Bentlee’s father, Brett Bissett, also faces charges in the boy’s death.
Court documents show he pleaded guilty to felony charges of disclosing intercepted communications and hindering apprehension or prosecution and misdemeanor charges including tampering with physical evidence and obstructing law enforcement. He was sentenced to a minimum of one year to two years of incarceration.
