PITTSBURGH — A woman is dead after she was shot in Pittsburgh’s Strip District late Sunday night.
A Pittsburgh Public Safety spokesperson says the shooting was reported around 10:40 p.m. near the intersection of 27th and Liberty Avenue.
Responding officers found an unresponsive woman on the sidewalk, shot in the face.
Those officers performed CPR until medics arrived and took her to a hospital in critical condition, where she later died. She was later identified as La’Eva Morrison, 34, of Braddock.
The spokesperson says three people were detained and taken to police headquarters for questioning.
Severe Jones is still in disbelief that his cousin, Morrison, was murdered.
“The first thought in my heart was like how hard it is going to hit the community. I knew it was going to hit everyone hard,” Jones said.
La’Eva’s family is calling for peace.
“You took a good soul and it didn’t need to lead where it led. And the city needs to stop this violence. Please. Stop the violence,” Jone said.
Jone said he had two siblings who were also killed by gun violence.
