Woman says bank account was drained after using her credit card during NFL Draft

PITTSBURGH — A woman working at Acrisure Stadium during the NFL Draft says thieves were able to get her credit card information and drained every dollar she had.

Linda Jones reached out to 11 Investigates Amy Hudak to look into what happened.

“It’s just horrible how people can go and hack systems and take people’s hard-earned money,” Jones tells 11 Investigates. “It’s horrible.”

Jones says she woke up to her phone buzzing Saturday night and looked at the screen.

“When I looked, it said declined, transaction declined, Jones said. “I see a transaction trying to go through. I went to my account, and it said I was negative $17.”

Jones showed us all of the charges on her bank statement. They were from DoorDash from different restaurants.

“There was one where they tried to do Dominos for $54.62 and that declined twice because they had already taken my money,” Jones added.

Jones says the thieves still tried to make purchases even once the money was gone. She’s not sure if there was a credit card skimmer or if someone hacked a computer system, but she only used her card once at a concession stand at Acrisure Stadium to buy food.

“I have reached out to Acrisure,” Jones tells 11 Investigates. “They said they were going to do an investigation, and I also reached out to my cardholder.”

We reached out to the Pittsburgh Police to ask if they have any reports of skimmers at the stadium. So far, their Public Information Office has not been made aware of any.

We also reached out to Aramark, which oversees the concessions at Acrisure Stadium. We’re waiting to hear back.
