WASHINGTON, Pa. — A man accused of burning the home where his ex-girlfriend and her husband live was in court on Wednesday.
Anthony Montgomery, 20, is facing felony arson charges after police said she set his ex-girlfriend's home on fire last week.
The fire happened on Ewing Street in Washington.
Witnesses said Montgomery poured a liquid on the garbage out front, lit it on fire and ran.
Police said the motive was jealousy.
"He's jealous. He thought I was fooling around with his cousin and his brother," said Anastasia Milchak.
Milchak believes Montgomery started the fire, thinking she was inside the home.
"Anthony and I were dating, and I went for job interviews. Well, Anthony got mad because he wanted to go to the mall. I told him, 'No. I need to find a job. I don't have time to be walking around the mall,'" said Milchak.
After Montgomery's hearing was postponed Wednesday, he didn't head back to jail. He went to a hospital instead. He allegedly lost control in the holding cell.
Milchak said the hardest part of the incident is she fears Montgomery believed she was inside the home when he set it on fire.
"I still have feelings. I'm going to care about him. Being with him, no. My life is way too valuable for that," Milchak said.
