Worker dies after falling from scaffolding into empty pool at a Pittsburgh school

PITTSBURGH — A woman is dead after she fell from scaffolding while working on a pool at a Pittsburgh school on Monday morning.

Emergency crews were called to Pittsburgh Obama on North Highland Avenue just before 9 a.m.

Pittsburgh Public Safety officials said construction workers were at the school working on the pool, where scaffolding was put up.

When crews arrived, they found a woman who had fallen approximately 30 feet to the bottom of the empty pool. Officials said she suffered traumatic injuries to her head, consistent with a fall of that height.

The woman was taken to a hospital in grave condition, where she later died.

Her identity has not yet been released.
