Authorities said the toddler was found, wearing only a shirt and diaper, wandering down an alley near Emerson Street around 6 a.m.
"Knocked on several doors, scoured the area with negative results, and the boy was brought back to the Vandergrift police station, where subsequently Westmoreland Child Youth Services was notified,” Vandergrift Police Officer Joe Gray said.
Police told Channel 11's Courtney Brennan that CYS picked up the toddler at 8:30 a.m. They said four hours later around 10 a.m., the boy's parents called police to find their son.
Police are investigating. There was no word on whether charges will be filed against the parents.
