CENTER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A man is facing charges after he allegedly spit on and kicked officers and paramedics when they arrived at a restaurant in Center Township, Beaver County to check out a report of an intoxicated man.

Authorities said the report came in about a car that had crashed into the wall of a Starbucks. Police said the driver, Nicholas Burgess, was found in a nearby Walmart parking lot.

Officers said Burgess became physical with them before he was placed in a cruiser, where he told the officer that he was having a medical emergency. Police said Burgess also assaulted the paramedics who attempted to help him.

Kramer said once Burgess is released from the hospital, he will be charged with aggravated assault, making threats and public drunkenness.

“He kicked one of the medic rescue personnel, and we believe it may have broken her ankle. She's getting that checked out now for whatever the extent of her injuries are,” Center Township police Chief Barry Kramer said.
