BETHEL PARK, Pa. — A woman was hospitalized and her son was found dead in their Bethel Park home following a welfare check Tuesday evening, authorities said.
Authorities said they had to wait for the fire department to arrive at the home on Route 88 before entering it around 8 p.m. Officials told Channel 11 News that the home was in deplorable condition.
The woman, who lived at the home with her son, failed to show up to work for a couple of days, so her co-workers called to have someone check on her, police said. The woman was taken to a hospital with undisclosed injuries. Her son was pronounced dead inside the home.
The Allegheny County medical examiner says the dead man was 45-year-old Christopher Baldauf.
Police don't believe her son's death is suspicious, but are investigating to be sure. They say the house was filled with unspecified items.
