Man Gets Trial In 7 Springs Sexual Assault case

CHAMPION, Pa.,None — A 19-year-old man charged with sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl in the parking lot at Seven Springs Mountain Resort in Somerset County will go to trial.

Anthony Raco is free after posting bond on charges including involuntary deviate sexual intercourse stemming from the Feb. 23 incident.

The girl told police she was at the resort for a high school skiing trip when she met Raco. Police said the two walked to his car to get some boots and when they got there, Raco told the girl to get in and keep warm, police said.

"The encounter escalated to a sexual assault after the accused made repeated and unwanted sexual advances," police said.

According to police, Raco also refused to take the girl back to the resort despite her demanding him to do so.

In a statement, a Seven Springs spokesman told Channel 11 News, "While I cannot comment on the specifics of a pending legal case, I can say that we are deeply saddened by these events and want to reassure the community that this is an isolated incident involving one individual. Seven Springs supports the Pennsylvania State Police with their investigation. We thank them for their swift apprehension of the suspect and their active partnership with our resort security team."

The spokesperson said crews patrol the resort parking lots 24 hours a day.
