MONROEVILLE, Pa. — A man was taken into custody Tuesday morning at the East End Motel in Monroeville.

The incident at the motel on Route 22 near the Pennsylvania Turnpike involved about a dozen officers, many with rifles drawn, Channel 11's Melanie Gillespie reported. An ambulance was also there on standby.

Police said they got a tip from authorities in Indiana that a fugitive might be in one of the rooms.

Gillespie reported that a PA system was used to order Wade Crone to come out with his hands up. He did so within about 30 minutes and was getting on the ground as police placed handcuffs on him.

Crone was wanted for a probation violation.

A woman from Ohio was also taken into custody, police said.

After most of the police cruisers left the scene, Gillespie reported that a few officers stayed behind and were searching one of the rooms.

The police chief told Gillespie that the incident had a “drug overtone.”
