CLAYSVILLE, Pa.,None — Teachers in the McGuffey School District in Washington County plan to strike for the second time this school year because the school board has rejected their latest contract proposal.
Teacher's union spokesman Andy MacBeth said the district's 165 teachers plan to go on strike Thursday.
The teachers picketed for two days in March, but returned to work.
The teachers said the contract was proposed by a state fact finder in November, but rejected by the school board then. Two of three arbitrators recommended the same contract again, and the teachers accepted it, but the school board rejected it Monday night.
It was not immediately clear how the strike might affect the district, where classes are scheduled to run through June 15.
