Monroeville Home Demolished; Man Who Planned To Buy It Upset

MONROEVILLE, Pa.,None — A home in Monroeville was demolished on Monday, and the man who planned to buy it is upset.

"I'm thinking about my kids who wanted to live in this neighborhood," said Kevin Boory, who planned on buying the home.

Boory said he was in the process of buying the home and had been working on fixing it up since the summer, already spending $2,000.

"I talked to the homeowner, and he said, ‘Go to Office Max and get a seller's agreement. I will sign it, and the house is yours,'" said Boory.

Boory did just that and was waiting for the paperwork from the owner when he found out the home was being demolished.

"They said they had letters from my attorney that said they knew my intentions on the house, and they knew I had a building permit," said Boory.

Channel 11 went to the town manager Tim Little.

Little showed Channel 11 a letter, which was mailed to Boory and the homeowner, telling them the house was condemned and would be demolished.

Little said the homeowner never told him he planned on selling the house to Boory.

"The person who owns the property is the one who is responsible for it and has the liability on it," said Little.

Boory thinks the home shouldn't have been torn down with a pending sale.

"They could call me to tell me the grass needed cut. Why wouldn't they call me to tell me they knocked the house down?" Boory said.
