Nemacolin Resort Gets Pa. Casino License

HARRISBURG, Pa.,None — Slot machines and table games are coming to the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Fayette County.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board voted 6-1 on Thursday to grant Nemacolin the state's last miniature "resort" casino license.

The casino, Lady Luck Nemacolin, is planned to be fully integrated into the resort and is expected to include 600 slot machines, 28 table games, a casual dining restaurant and lounge.

The project is anticipated to cost approximately $50 million, which is to be funded by Isle of Capri Casinos. It's expected to be complete within nine months of the commencement of construction, which is planned to begin immediately upon the formal issuance of the gaming license.

Nemacolin beat out three other applicants: the Fernwood Hotel & Resort in the Pocono Mountains, the Eisenhower Conference Center near Gettysburg and a Holiday Inn in suburban Harrisburg.

Pennsylvania's gambling regulators have awarded licenses to 12 applicants since 2006 and revoked one of them. Ten casinos are now operating.
