Newlyweds Meet Man Who Found Missing Wedding Money

BRIDGEVILLE, Pa.,None — Brennan Breene, of Bridgeville, went to WPXI.com Monday morning and learned that the $3,600 he had found Sunday night on Washington Pike Road in South Fayette Township belonged to Ashley and Dave Marasco who were married Saturday night.

"I was driving along the road deep in thought. I looked down and saw what I thought was a money envelope and money hanging out of it," said Breene. "I found [the story] on WPXI and it was right there. As soon as I saw it, I knew whose money it was."

The Marascos said they lost the money after they left the Fairview Sunset Hall Sunday afternoon.

"We opened our cards, and we put the money in an envelope. Then my husband put the envelope on top of the car not knowing I would drive away," she said.

It's the money the couple received from the 200+ guests at their Saturday night wedding.

When Marasco came to a stoplight by the Shop 'N Save along Washington Pike, another driver caught her attention, telling her the wedding album was on the trunk. The money, however, was gone.

"I called my mom and they started walking down to see if they could find anything," said Ashley.

The couple and their families combed through trees on the side of the road Sunday.

"We have a baby and we just got married. We just bought a house and we are both in grad school. We also work full-time," said Ashley.

Monday night, the newlyweds met Breene, to personally thank him for returning the cash.

"We really didn't think anyone would turn it in. We had hoped, but we both kind of just chalked it up there as a loss," said Ashley Marasco.

"I just thought it was great that there are still people that believe in honesty, because it was cash," said Dave Marasco.

Bridgeville Police Chief Chad King said when the money was reported missing, he had doubts that it would ever be returned.

"Like I said earlier, there are good people out there," said King.

Breene, who recently lost his father and had to put his mother in a nursing home, said when he found cash he knew exactly what he had to do.

"It's a testimony to my mom and dad. They raised me right," explained Breene.
