NFL player pays off layaways for Pittsburgh-area residents

Some families who really need help this time of year aren’t paying a penny for their gifts.

NFL player Darrin Walls, as part of the Pay Away the Layaway program, paid off layaways for more than a dozen families at the Burlington store in downtown Pittsburgh.

Walls is a Woodland Hills graduate and said he knows the struggle firsthand.

“I know how hard it can be for some families,” Walls said. “It means a lot for me to be able to give back to families in need.”

“It's wonderful. It really is. I really appreciate it. It's a great Christmas gift for me and for him,” said Jocelyn Simmons, of East Liberty.
