OAKMONT, Pa.,None — People were evacuated from a PNC Bank in Oakmont Monday after an apparent bomb threat, police said.
Oakmont police Chief David DiSanti said the department received a call from Allegheny County 911 "that there was a reference to a bomb at the bank."
"We went and immediately evacuated the building, as it's better to err on the side of caution," he said
A search of the building found nothing suspicious, he said. A county bomb-sniffing dog was also used.
The bank was then allowed to reopen for business Monday afternoon.
Police said they are questioning someone, but said no one has been arrested.
PNC Bank officials said they don't comment on security issues.
A bank customer said she believes the threat might be someone just trying to get attention, following a bomb scare during the Pittsburgh Marathon recently.
"I actually think it's a copy cat thing," Julianne Lettrich said. "Obviously, the one in New York wasn't, but there was something at the Marathon, I understand. There was someone's backpack a couple of days ago. So honestly I think a lot of people see that and the attention and they think maybe I can get some attention too."
