BEAVER FALLS, Pa. — A man is facing a number of charges after an officer-involved shooting Wednesday in Beaver Falls, authorities said.

Officials said the Beaver Falls Police Department received a 911 call just before 3:30 p.m. about a man with a handgun who had entered a home in the 900 block of Fourth Avenue.

When three officers arrived at the scene and entered the home, Kevin Haskins pointed a gun at them and attempted to fire, but the gun did not go off, police said.%

Authorities said at that point, officers returned fire wounding Haskins.

Witnesses told Channel 11’s Amy Marcinkiewicz at least 10 shots were fired.

No police officers were hurt.

Haskins was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital, where he was undergoing surgery Wednesday night, police said.

Beaver Falls police said nine people, including six children, were inside the home at the time of the incident.

Criminal charges, including attempted homicide and burglary, will be filed against Haskins, police said.

Because officers were involved in the shooting, Pennsylvania State Police will lead the investigation with assistance from the Beaver Falls Police Department and the Beaver County Detective Bureau.
