Rostraver Ice Garden owner Jim Murphy said an engineer determined there was 5 feet of snow on one side of the roof and 18 inches on the other when the roof caved in Feb. 14.
A strong winter storm had brought more than 2 feet of snow to the Pittsburgh area in the days before a large section of the rink's roof buckled.
A youth hockey tournament was being held at the time of the collapse. No injuries were reported.
Murphy said cleanup work at the rink is scheduled to begin next week. He hopes to reopen by August.
