AMBRIDGE, Pa. — Police in Ambridge have executed the largest drug bust in the community's history, Channel 11's Amy Marcinkiewicz reported Wednesday.

Officers said they discovered 64 bricks of heroin worth as much as $48,000, $7,000 in cash and a stolen gun inside the Economy Village home.

According to officials, the heroin was found in a trashcan underneath all of the garbage.%

A man and a woman, identified as Eddie Washington and Aminah Genes, were arrested. Police said two children, ages 6 and 11, were inside the home at the time. A 14-year-old child who also lives there was not home when police arrived.

None of the neighbors wanted to talk on camera, but said that it was a shame that there were children in the house around all of those drugs.

“We can cut off the head of the snake but we got pretty darn close, or going to keep chipping away at this drug problem. We're not giving up,” Ambridge Police Chief Jim Mann said.
