HEMPFIELD, Pa.,None — Some students in the Hempfield Area School District may be subject to random drug tests at home.
The district has teamed up with the prevention group called Candle to offer home testing kits to parents of 6th and 7th graders.
Parents are eligible for a free one year enrollment where Candle will randomly notify them when to administer the test.
Hempfield Area School District officials released a statement on Wednesday saying, "The Hempfield Area School District is making these available on a voluntary basis and will have no involvement in the parental implementation of these kits."
