PITTSBURGH,None — Pirates catcher Chris Snyder and his wife Carla came face-to-face with a man accused of attacking them during a road rage incident last month.
Chris and Carla Snyder spoke to Channel 11 News after a hearing on Wednesday, in which all charges against Subhash Modhwadia, of Scott Township, were held for court.
"It was a weird situation. Everything happened so fast," Chris Snyder said.
With an Indian interpreter on video, Carla Snyder testified that when she turned into a BP gas station on Banksville Road, Modhwadia blocked her sports utility vehicle and accused her of cutting him off.
From there Carla Snyder said Modhwadia became enraged, kicked the passenger side door, tried to punch her and broke the side-view mirror with his fist.
Carla Snyder said her husband was unable to help because he had just had back surgery. Carla said her two small children witnessed the violence.
While screaming for help, Carla Snyder said Joe Changle ran from inside of the gas station and fought off the suspect. An off-duty police officer, who said he was also hit by Modhwadia, tackled him to the ground.
"I didn't know what his intentions were. It was kind of scary. I had my family in the car. My husband hurt. I honestly needed somebody to help and the men there helped us out," Carla Snyder said.
Modhwadia remains in the Allegheny County Jail on $50,000 bond. If found guilty, Modhwadia's attorney said his visa could be revoked.
