PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh man is accused of being drunk when he crashed an SUV in Beaver County after leaving his young daughter home alone, according to police.
Timothy Gattuso, 31, crashed early Friday morning through a yard in Beaver County, taking out bushes and a tree before landing sideways in Jeff Rabich’s driveway.
“I can see straight down this road and you could just tell he wasn't going to stop,” Rabich said.
Police said Gattuso went through a stop sign at the intersection of Park Road and Route 151 before the crash, which happened just after midnight.
Gattuso was not seriously injured, much to the surprise of Rabich.
“The first thing I thought of is this person, this guy, has to be dead. And he got out of the car and didn't even seem like he was hurt. It was amazing,” Rabich said.
Gattuso was supposed to be at home in Pittsburgh’s Brookline neighborhood watching his 1-year-old daughter. Police said his wife called his cellphone minutes before the crash and he assured her that he was.
“We saw the car seat and he kept mentioning he just got off the phone with his wife, and he kept accusing her -- that it was her fault that she called, that’s why he wasn’t paying attention,” Rabich said. “Well, then don’t answer the phone until you stop,”
When Gattuso’s wife found out about the crash, she rushed home and found the couple’s daughter alone in her crib.
