PITTSBURGH,None — Jurors have convicted a Pittsburgh man for killing his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend in July 2008.
Wendell Jones, 57, was on trial for killing Sonsiarae Watts, 45, and her boyfriend, Dahl Palm, 44, inside Watts' Valley Street home in Stowe Township.
Police said both victims were shot to death.
Two months before the murders, Watts had taken out a protection from abuse order against Jones, police said. She said that he had abused her.
After the verdict, Jones' attorney, Blaine Jones, said the acquittal of Casey Anthony in Florida may have played a role in the verdict against his client.
"I think there is truly a backlash with the Casey Anthony verdict," said Blaine Jones. "The court of public opinion. This person's guilty. Where, as in a court of law, you look at the evidence. I think that's going to be difficult to overcome for quite some time."
Blaine Jones said he plans to appeal the verdict.
